Macro World - Little Critters Are Wildlife Too!

A slide presentation featuring nature's frequently overlooked flora and fauna.  This walk through forest and field with the photographer employing a macro (close up) lens may open your eyes to a world of beauty and intrigue often passed by.  We will employ portions of the photographer's "Camo Critter Hunt" (Wildlife 'Where's Waldo?') to show how easily some of these subjects can be missed.

Lake Agassiz, River Warren, and the Minnesota River Valley

Thousands of years ago a glacial lake, larger than the combined mass of the Great Lakes, ruptured through a low point in the continental divide near Browns Valley Minnesota   The outflow, named Glacial River Warren, tore through the Minnesota landscape creating a valley up to 6 miles wide and 250 feet deep.   In its wake it left exposed granite rock outcroppings as old as any to be found in the world today.
This program examines some of the Minnesota River Valley’s unique landscapes created by Glacial Lake Agassiz and River Warren.  We will view slide photos of these geological features, as well as the varieties of flora and fauna found within these treasured sites.  There will also be a hands-on display comprising both geologic and natural artifacts from these areas.

Wetlands: Their Role and The Life They Sustain

A slide program on wetlands and the life they nurture.  We will observe a beaver family, their pond, and the varieties of life in and around the pond.  Artifacts from animals and their activities will be available for hands on examination.  The historical significance of the beaver fur trade in Minnesota is also highlighted.

Minnesota River Valley Birding Trail

Join Ron on a photo journey through the Dakota section of the Minnesota River Valley Birding Trail (New Ulm to Granite Falls), with special emphasis on New Ulm's Flandrau State Park.  Features a comprehensive view of various sites and their diversity of flora & fauna.

Louisville - More Than Just A Swamp!

Join Ron for a photo journey through Louisville Swamp near Shakopee.  Louisville is part of the Minnesota River Valley National Wildlife Refuge system and a great place to visit.  We'll take a look at some of the flora, fauna, and sites within Louisville.  This is an underused treasure, easily accessible to metro residents.  Great trails and interesting viewing - certainly worth a look!
